MEETING POINT: Statue of Saint Wenceslas, under the horse’s tail

FEE: 150,- Kč / family to be collected at the meeting point

Tour is designed for children aged 6-12 year old and their parents. We will show many images of the square over its 660+ year history, discuss the original use of Václavák as a horse market in medieval Prague. Kids will discover what the New Town meant to the city, think more about St. Wenceslas, patron saint of Bohemia, one of the first royal Czech converts to Christianity for whom the square was named. Kids will imagine going to a silent movie at the first Czech cinema, Kino Lucerna, and come up with their own Černý design on paper while pondering Černý’s upside down equestrian lampoon.
Please lend your kid some old keys to jingle as we recreate what the Velvet Revolution felt like to those hundreds of thousands of Czechs (including some of their parents and grandparents) who jingled keys on the square in 89.
