What are you reading this summer? Can you read more English books then last summer?
Let's break together last year's total number of pages read, let's read more then 85 248 pages!
We are excited to announce our 4th annual summer reading challenge for kids! 2017 Challenge starts on 1st July and ends by 31st August. All the reading records must be sent to info@classacts.cz no later then 4th September 2017.
This event is free of charge.
How it works: It's simple!
- Your child should read as many books in English as possible during summer break (1st July - 31st August). You should only enter the books read between 1st July - 31st August 2017.
- As your child reads books in English, enter them into the reading record.
- When your child is finished with reading this summer sign the reading record and return it to Class Acts (you can scan and send it to info@classacts.cz).
- When Class Acts receives the completed reading record, you will be invited to Books on the Go party on 15th September at Vyšehrad. At the party your child will receive a certificate and will be entered in a raffle for prizes and most importantly together we will celebrate their reading success with games, yummy food and little awards.
- Class Acts will count all the pages read that summer based on received reading records and select readers who read the most books, the most pages in all age categories.
- Books on the Go final party will take place on 15th September 2017 at Vyšehrad (Staré purkrabství). After sending filled reading record you will be invited to Books on the Go final party.

Class Acts is offering a “full afternoon” Grade 3 English program. The class will be of very similar format to the existing KINDY Plus 2nd Grade with 50min. English (Language Skills) session followed by a 10min. snack break and Circle time. We will finish our afternoon with a 30min. ‘topic’ lesson. This lesson will include Science, History, Geography, PSHE (Social Studies) and occasionally Math concepts will also be covered. This class is designed prior for children whose were attending KINDY Plus 2nd Grade program.

English-speaking children attending Czech primary schools have different language-learning needs to their Czech-speaking classmates. Recognising that they would benefit from an alternative to the standard ESL instruction on offer, Class Acts has been running After School English (previously called “Bohemian Bilinguals”) since 2009. This language program offers an approach similar to programs in the U.S. and the U.K. and includes an emphasis on early writing, critical thinking and creativity. Class Format Classes meet once a week for an hour and usually include group reading and discussion, individual reading. Classes are supplemented with weekly homework assignments, including spelling lists and workbook assignments. Students are also expected to read in English at home, and there is usually an art-related assignment to build on the week’s in-class reading. Who attends? Bilingual children attending Czech state primary schools from all over Prague.

A program for kindergarten-aged children (5-6). KINDY is an expansion of our “Getting Ready to Read” and Drama classes, as we believe that children of this age benefit from a full morning of English. Inspired by British and American kindergarten programs, children learn the basics of reading and writing based on phonics, and expand their vocabulary through theme-based sessions focused on mathematics, science, geography, history, plus music and drama. Please note that children are left at the center for this fully-supervised program. Children attending this course has to be fluent in spoken English.

Creative Writing Club, aimed at bilingual primary school aged children (from Grade 2 to 5). Club is open to all the children prior to those attending the Bohemian Bilinguals classes. The club meets once a month on Saturday morning at Municipal Library in Korunni, Prague 3 - Vinohrady with the total of 4 session termly.
The main focus will be to cover the area of English that is very important and exciting – creative writing. The children will have the chance to develop their creative writing skills, reading and comprehension skills.

The Readers’ Club is designed for children fluent in English who are in the 5th grade (of the Czech National Curriculum) and older. It provides them with a unique opportunity to share and discuss books in English, which they might not otherwise be able to do. The Readers’ Club meets once a month and is led by a qualified reading and literacy teacher. It promotes reading in a fun, yet educational way! Children in the older group (11-14 years) should be fluent readers and able to read in English on their own.
Prior to the session, children read the same title. During the session, the lecturer and the children discuss the book and engage in activities related to it – drawing, acting out parts of the story, reading out loud passages from the book.
